What the calculators are
The tools on this site perform arithmetic on figures you supply. They apply standard formulas, which are published on each calculator page, to the assumptions you enter. They have no knowledge of your income, debts, tax position, employment stability, health, dependants, risk tolerance or time horizon — all of which bear on any real financial decision more heavily than a projection does.
Projections are illustrations, not predictions
Any forward-looking figure on this site is a mathematical extension of the assumptions entered, not a forecast. Investment returns are variable and can be negative. Past performance does not indicate future results. A projection that assumes a constant annual return will never match a real market, which delivers its average through a sequence of good and bad years; that sequence matters considerably, particularly for anyone drawing down a portfolio.
Accuracy
We take accuracy seriously and publish the formula behind every calculator so it can be checked. Even so, the tools are provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including as to accuracy, completeness or fitness for any particular purpose. Verify any figure independently before relying on it. If you find an error, tell us and we will correct it.
Cited research
Where the guides cite external research, we name the source and the period it covers so you can read the original. We do not control that research and it may be superseded. Historical findings describe what happened in the periods studied; they are not forecasts.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, KeenRate accepts no liability for any loss or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, this site or its calculators. Decisions you make with your money remain yours.
